SOFTWARE ENGINEER
COURSE BACKGROUND
A software engineer applies engineering principles to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software systems. These individuals possess a deep understanding of programming languages, algorithms, and software development methodologies, allowing them to create efficient and scalable solutions for various applications.
National Examination
Learners will have to complete internal assessments (FORMATIVE AND SUMMATIVE) assignments 01-16 those assignments are part of General Assessments towards the POE File. Learners will be doing the monthly internal assessments, mid-year exams and end of the year exams to assess the students if they are progress towards the EISA Exams. At the end of the course which is 12/18/24 months must be completed which gives a student a right to sit in for the EISA Examinations. These are exams from Seta.
This qualification is made up of compulsory Knowledge, Practical Skill and Work Experience Modules:
Knowledge Modules
- Software Engineering.
- Programming.
- Database Design and Information Systems.
- Fundamentals of Project Management in Relation to Software Engineering.
- Digital and Business Mathematics.
Total number of credits for Knowledge Modules: 75
Practical Skill Modules
- Document System Design.
- Design and Manipulate Databases.
- Programme and Deploy Applications.
- Test or Debug Source Code to Ensure Client’s needs are met.
Total number of credits for Practical Skill Modules: 70.
Work Experience Modules
- Software Design.
- Database Design and Manipulation.
- Software Development.
- Software Testing.

it is a two years course with 2 intakes per year that is January, June.

Learners who have passed National Examination will be awarded Occupational Certificate: Software Engineer by Quality Council. Certificates are only issued to students that pass the EISA (NATIONAL EXAMS) whereby this certificate is Nationally and Internationally recognized.
